Full speed ahead!
Zayne after the Centennial High School Tourny- 4th place!!

Zayne after his 1st match of the day! He went three rounds, I was so tired---I mean he was so tired! Check out the look on his face! How familiar is that dazed look- all of my running pals?? In the picture above, James is trying to give advice, the only problem is we were football, basketball, track, cross country people, wrestling is a whole new world for us!!
Barry Jones we need your help!!
So we decided to let Zayne try wrestling out this year. James nor I know anything about the sport, but Zayne really wanted to do it. For all of you who don't know our Z-man- he is about as sweet and gentle as they come. Zayne has cousins who wrestle, a couple of them state champions- we thought hey, we will let him practice and learn this year and if he really likes it, it may help boost his confidence a little. Then next year if he still liked it, he could enter into some tournaments. After 4 practices, he really really wanted to enter a tournament, so we let him- I didn't go-- but get a phone call from his dad out of breath and beside himself-, "Zayne won his first match!! " He ended up taking 2nd-!! He was so excited! So 2 weeks later, he went to another big tournament in Boise- I was able to go and cheer him on. Let me just say, I had know idea what to expect!! He went out onto the mat, hundreds of people in the stands, wearing a singlet......(this is the boy who can barely stand to say an opening pray or talk in primary) - I was so stinkin nervous for him. I was shaking, my heart was pounding in my chest-never in all my years of competing, had I ever felt so stressed and happy and excited all at once! The match started and I have no idea where my little sweet Zayne was- the boy in the blue singlet was agressive and competing, trying as hard as he could to beat his opponent. His match went three rounds and Zayne won by points- when it was over I was exhausted!! I felt like I just ran a cross country race- Nobody ever warned me of the feelings you get when watching your kids go out there by themselves and give it their all- it was amazing. He won a couple and lost a couple that day, ended up 4th- the little guy was disappointed cuz 1-3 earned medals! I have to say though, my proudest moment was watching him not quit- he was a total scrapper! I love that!! Way to go Z-man! You're our little fighter!!
